How much money can I save?

You could save up to 25%, while most people will save around 15% percent. Where do the savings come from? Overhead. General contractors will generally charge at least 10-15% and it is common to have an additional 6-7% real estate fee. Even a conservative estimate of 10% savings on a $800,000 home would save you $80,000. No matter how you look at it, you can save a lot of money!

What construction experience and skills are required?

Quite surprisingly, you can build an elegant home without any previous experience or construction skills. You won’t need to pickup a hammer, screwdriver or any other tools; you won’t even need to get your hands dirty. (You can if you want to, of course).

Building an upscale home is about proper planning, then arranging top tier sub-contractors to complete the actual work. These sub-contractors will take care of everything from the foundation all the way through the finishing details. Your responsibility will be in making sure you get your design right, that you schedule the right people and that those sub-contractors are performing work in the correct manner.

Builder Blueprint provides you with all the necessary tools to plan a luxury home, find sub-contractors, keep you organized and inspect the workmanship at each stage. You will be armed with our intricate knowledge of home building that will empower you at each step.
